I guess most of us do the same as i used to do. Every time
we open up our laptops, we open a browser and start typing name of the websites that we visit everyday.
We type gmail.com in one tab. While it's loading, we open another tab and type
facebook.com and again we type ekantipur.com in another tab. If we in a mood to
listen music while checking mails and reading news and updates, we would also
open youtube.com in another tab.
Actually there isn’t anything wrong with that as I used to
do the same long time ago but the way I do nowadays has made it much easier. Now
when i open my browser, all those websites gets open automatically. I do not go
in separate tabs and type the name of those websites.
So it means we can setup startup pages in browsers that get
loaded automatically when the browser is loaded for the first time. Here, we
are going to focus only on Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox browsers.
#Loading Startup Pages in Chrome
Follow the steps
to Settings page of chrome.
on the "Show Advance Settings" at the bottom of the settings
the "On Startup" section change the option to "Open
specific page or set of pages ".
on "Set Pages" link next to the above option. A new popup called
"startup pages" gets opens.
the name of the websites that you want to open when chrome is opened for
the first time
all opened tabs of chrome and open a new window of chrome to check if the
websites are loaded automatically or not! If any window of chrome is
already open and if you open a new window again then these websites will not be
loaded as they get loaded only when chrome is opened for first time.
#Setting homepage in Firefox.
There is also another way of loading a default website when
a browser is opened, by setting the website as the homepage of the browser,
instead of using Preferences Menu to set startup pages. So when a browser is
opened, it will load the homepage that we have assigned. I will show how to
setup homepage instead of loading startup pages for firefox because it is so
easy and i have used it to load my personal blog www.yogeshbasnet.com.np automatically,
when i open Firefox. Through this website, I access other websites like
gmail.com, facebook.com, twitter.com, youtube.com and ekantipur.com by clicking
on the links that i have on the top of my website.
Follow the steps and screenshots:
Firefox and open the website that you want to set as homepage
and hold the tab for the desired home page website. Drag this to the home
icon, which looks like a house.
yes in the popup menu to confirm to change your home page.
